BACOG Elects New Officers

July 1, 2011 Comments Off

BACOG elected Tower Lakes Village President Kathleen O. Leitner as Chairman and Barrington Village President Karen Darch as Vice-Chairman of the Executive Board for fiscal year 2011-2012.   The new year begins July 1st.   Leitner stated, “I look forward to serving this year as the Chairman of BACOG.

BACOG’s success has been and continues to be due to the fundamental commitment of its membership to a lifestyle which focuses on prudent use and enjoyment of our natural resources.  Working with President Darch as Vice-Chair and with the entire BACOG Board, I plan to continue that commitment to our greater community”.

BACOG strives to protect this unique community for the residents by promoting legislative efforts and issues of regional concern including groundwater projects.  BACOG has made great strides in the area of groundwater by researching and mapping the regional aquifers. The project includes educating residents on the importance of protecting this resource and the land areas that recharge the aquifers in the BACOG area and surrounding communities.

Darch stated, “BACOG has offered our communities a forum for over forty years in which to address issues of mutual concern, explore measures to enhance our residents’ quality of life, and to give voice to positions which reflect our region to those in other parts of Illinois or the US.  I am happy to continue this effort with my fellow area leaders under Chair Kathleen Leitner in the coming year.”
